Company
tummy.com is a boutique Linux consulting firm located in Fort Collins, Colorado. We have been specializing in Linux since we formed in 1995.
We offer our clients experienced, reliable System and Network Administration services. We aim to provide solutions which solve real customer problems the first time, and for the entire lifetime of their use. We believe that preventing problems is a higher goal than appearing to be a hero by fixing problems when they become an emergency.
Our People
tummy.com was founded by Sean Reifschneider and Evelyn Mitchell in 1995.
Sean Reifschneider has been developing on and doing system administration for Unix and Linux systems since his first job as a teenager. Prior to founding tummy.com, he had worked as a C developer for a computer manufacturer in Fort Collins, a C developer for a Unix software development company in Fort Collins, and a Systems Administrator under contract to a large telecommunications company providing support to their billing systems. He is a strong Systems Administrator and Programmer, with a passion for solving problems.
Some of the projects he's worked on for tummy.com include:
- Development of drivers and software for a wireless handheld device to process credit card orders securely.
- Development of secure remote deployment software for use with a Linux firewall.
- Development of two separate custom email solutions for clients.
- Senior System Administrator for many clients of many different sizes, from single systems to ISPs with tens of thousands of users.
- Development of a User Mode Linux shared hosting solution which tummy.com offers as a product.
Kevin Fenzi, co-author of the Linux Security HOWTO, is a senior member of tummy.com's team. He has been working as a Unix and Linux System Administrator for more than 15 years. His passion is security, and all of the steps needed to ensure that systems are kept safe in ways which are appropriate to the requirements of our customers.
Some of the projects he has worked on for tummy.com include:
- Development of a custom Linux Kernel for an embedded device which included Java and secure remote access.
- Senior System Administrator for many clients of many different sizes, from single systems to ISPs with tens of thousands of users.
- Development of a Linux Firewall distribution which included an immutable file system and ran in single user mode. This prevented an external intruder, if they were able to gain access, from changing anything on the system.
Evelyn Mitchell is the administrative partner of tummy.com. She has a varied background in technology and business, including work as a developer for a mining company and internet based financial services firm.
Kristen Shuemaker is the buildmaster of tummy.com, and is responsible for the smooth creation every month of 6 different versions of KRUD and KRUDserver Linux.
Some Projects We've Worked On
We have extensive experience in creating and maintaining custom Linux Distributions. In addition to our publicly available Linux distributions, KRUD (www.tummy.com/krud) and KRUDserver (www.tummy.com/krudserver), we have created specialized distributions for several clients, including:
- For a Fortune 500 networking equipment manufacturer, we created a custom Linux distribution which included backporting versions of most of the applications available on the current release versions of Red Hat to a kernel which was 2 years out of date. They were able to deploy this version in their testing lab on time, and on budget.
- For an ECommerce company, we created a custom distribution, which included High Availability (HA) support, which was successfully deployed in data centers around the US.
- For an embedded device startup company, which was deploying security sensitive units in remote areas, we developed a custom Linux distribution which included a Java runtime, secure update deployment scripts which we developed, and a minimal kernel and included application set, all to fit on a PC104 single board computer with 64MB RAM.
