I just linked two ngircd servers and the only problem I ran into was that the passwords for the servers cannot be longer than 8 characters. If it is, the servers will fail to link. It will just fail to link -- there are no logs so I couldn't find out why without doing a tcpdump and watching the interaction on the wire -- where the "bad password" message was obvious.

I had found another reference to passwords being limited to 8 characters, that was for a user password, so I figured this might be the problem before I was doing the tcpdump.

Once the password issue was worked out, the ngircd server-to-server link came right up and had no problem.
